*Smaller knitting needle sizes are often referred to as steel knitting pins. Trying to find a comparison with needles smaller than US 0 (British 14) is difficult, since it is not given in many comparison charts. Occasionally there is a difference of opinion as to what the correct comparison would be.

When the smaller knitting needles are used, the difference in the size of the mesh is not that great and it would probably not matter much if a slightly different size knitting needle was used.
