TO PREPARE TO NET WITH STRING, TWINE, CORD, OR ROPE:

In these instructions the word string = whatever string, cord, twine, rope, or thread you are using to net.

1. Cut a piece of the string about 1 yard long.

tie foundation loop into a circle

2. Tie the ends of that 1 yard long string together with a square knot so you have a circle.

NOTE: This circle of string is called the foundation loop.

3. Put one end of the cord through the foundation loop and tie the ends of the cord together in a bow.

4. Put your foot through the circle formed by the cord and step on the cord.

5. If necessary, tie the cord again so the top of the foundation loop is in front of you about waist high when the cord and thread are pulled taut

NOTE: Whenever the netting comes too close for you to work comfortably, just retie the cord so that your work is properly positioned.

6. Tie the loose end of the string from the netting shuttle to the foundation loop. For diamond or square mesh netting leave about a 3" or 4" tail. For circular netting leave a longer tail (at least as long as the length of the article).
