INSTRUCTIONS

Equipment: 5/16", and 3/8" mesh sticks
#3, #4, and #7 double pointed knitting needles (kn)
 
 
 
one
eyelet stitch
Pull next loop up through the loop to the right of it, net knot in the 1st loop (loop pulled up), pull up the part of the 2nd loop that is now between the 1st loop and net through that part of the 2nd loop
 
 
REGULAR (center)
Round 1 mesh stick: 3/8" 20 knots in round

In foundation loop net 20 loops (last one tied by hand with CK).

 
Rounds 2-3 mesh stick: #3 kn 20 knots in round

Net 1 knot in each loop.


PLAIN (stitch)
 
Round 4 mesh stick: 5/16" 24 knots in round

Net 2 knots in next loop, *net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops; repeat.


FRENCH KNOTS (decorative stitch)
Round 5 mesh stick: top #3 kn; bottom #7 kn 68 knots in round

Over #3 kn net 2 knots into loop formed by CK, *in next loop net 1 knot over both sticks and 2 knots over #3 kn*, {over both sticks, net 2 knots in next loop, repeat from * to * 5 times} repeat instructions in {} around the square ending with repeat from * to * 3 times instead of 5 times.

 
Round 6 mesh stick: top #3 kn; bottom #7 kn 80 knots in round

Over #3 kn net 2 knots into loop formed by CK, *in next loop net 1 knot over both sticks and 2 knots over #3 kn*, repeat from * to * once more, {over both sticks, net 2 knots in next loop, repeat from * to * 6 times} repeat instructions in {} around the square ending with repeat from * to * 3 times instead of 6 times.

 
Round 7 mesh stick: top #3 kn; bottom #7 kn 92 knots in round

Over #3 kn net 2 knots into loop formed by CK, *in next loop net 1 knot over both sticks and 2 knots over #3 kn*, repeat from * to * 2 times, {over both sticks, net 2 knots in next loop, repeat from * to * 7 times}repeat instructions in {} around the square ending with repeat from * to * 3 times instead of 7 times.


CARROTS (increase stitch)
Round 8 mesh stick: 3/8" 72 knots in round
(18 per side)

Net 1 knot in loop formed by CK, net 2 knots in all other loops.

 
Round 9 mesh stick: #4 kn 76 knots in round
(19 per side)

Net 1 knnot in each loop for 10 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 17 loops*, repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

 
Round 10 mesh stick: #4 kn 80 knots in round
(20 per side)

Net 1 knnot in each loop for 11 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 18 loops*, repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.


EYELET (decorative stitch)
Round 11 mesh stick: 3/8" 84 knots in round
(21 per side)

Net 1 knot in each loop for 12 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 19 loops*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

 
Round 12 mesh stick: #4 kn 88 knots in round
(22 per side)

Pull loop formed by CK (and accompanying needle and threads) up through loop to the right of CK. Pull the part of the 2nd loop that is now between the loop formed by the CK up and net through the part just pulled up, using the next 12 loops net 6 eyelet stitches (directions at top of instructions), *net 2 knots in next loop, using the next 20 loops net 10 eyelet stitches*; repeat from * to * ending with net 3 eyelet stitches.

 
Round 13 mesh stick: 3/8" 92 knots in round
(23 per side)

Net 1 knot in each loop for 14 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 21 loops*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

 
Round 14 mesh stick: #4 kn 96 knots in round
(24 per side)

Pull loop formed by CK (and accompanying needle and threads) up through loop to the right of CK. Pull the part of the 2nd loop that is now between the loop formed by the CK up and net through the part just pulled up, using the next 14 loops net 7 eyelet stitches (directions at top of instructions), *net 2 knots in next loop, using the next 22 loops net 11 eyelet stitches*; repeat from * to * ending with net 3 eyelet stitches.

 
Round 15 mesh stick: 3/8" 100 knots in round
(25 per side)

Net 1 knot in each loop for 16 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 23 loops*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

 
Round 16 mesh stick: #4 kn 104 knots in round
(26 per side)

Pull loop formed by CK (and accompanying needle and threads) up through loop to the right of CK. Pull the part of the 2nd loop that is now between the loop formed by the CK up and net through the part just pulled up, using the next 16 loops net 8 eyelet stitches (directions at top of instructions), *net 2 knots in next loop, using the next 24 loops net 12 eyelet stitches*; repeat from * to * ending with net 3 eyelet stitches.

 
Round 17 mesh stick: #4 kn 108 knots in round
(27 per side)
 

Net 1 knot in each loop for 18 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 25 loops*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

Round 18 mesh stick: #4 kn 112 knots in round
(28 per side)

Net 1 knot in each loop for 19 loops, *net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 26 loops*; repeat from * to * ending with net 1 knot in each loop for 6 loops.

(30 per side)

Net 1 knot in loop to left of CK, skip loop to right of CK, net in next loop, net in skipped loop, *skip loop, net 1 knot in next loop, net 1 knot in skipped loop*; repeat 9 times (total 11 criss-cross stitches). {Net 1 knot in next loop, net 2 knots in corner loop, net 1 knot in next loop, repeat from * to * 13 times} repeat from { to } 2 times ending with repeat from * to * 2 times.
