If the first row of meshes are tied over a foundation loop and the foundation loop is removed, the loops tied around the foundation loop are slightly bigger than loops in later rows that are tied using the same size mesh stick. Using a starting chain will eliminate this problem.
The instructions in this section assume that you already know how to tie the basic netting knot. If this is not true, please go to either Basic Knot using Thread or Basic Knot using String/Twine and learn how to tie the Basic Knot (unless you are just browsing).
| To make the first loop in the chain: |
1. Wrap string around the mesh stick twice. |
2. Tie a knot at top of the mesh stick, leaving about a 3 inch tail. |
3. Remove mesh stick and stretch loop out. |
4. Hang loop on nail or hook with knot to the left. |
| To make the second loop in the chain: |
5. With knot remaining at left side, tie new knot over mesh stick. |
| To make all other loops in the chain: |
6. Remove the mesh stick. Net a knot in the loop just formed.Repeat that process as often as needed.
