Using either the Lace-maker or the Net-maker method to tie the netting knot, you can create several types of netting:
Type of Netting | Description | Examples | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Diamond Mesh Netting | This type of netting goes back and forth in rows | Bags, Hammock, Headbands, Snoods, Scarves, Trellises | ||||
Square Mesh Netting | This type of netting goes back and forth in rows; however, it is worked in the diagonal. The first row starts at one corner and the last row finishes the corner diagonal to the first corner. This is often used as a foundation for lacis or net embroidery. | Bags, Belts, Headbands, Trellises | ||||
Spiral Netting | This type of netting goes around and around, in a manner similar to knitting or crochet. There is no beginning or ending to specific rounds since you just keep going. | Bags, Hairnet | ||||
Circular Netting | This type of netting goes around and around; however there is a beginning and an ending to each round. | Bags, Doilies, Ornaments, Snoods, Hot Pads, Dishcloths | ||||
Oval Netting | This netting can be made using either the Spiral or Circular Netting. The center is often in the shape of a rectangle. | Bookmarks |
