This center was one that appeared in several of my grandmother’s doilies. The number of points in the center and the length of the point varied.

Instructions for the Sample Pictured Above

Round 1	mesh stick: 1/2″ Form grommet with 40 loops (last one tied by hand with CK).	40 knots in round

Rounds 2-6	mesh stick: #3 kn Net 1 knot in each loop.	40 knots in round

Round 7	mesh stick: #3 kn Net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops; repeat.	48 knots in round

Round 8	mesh stick: #3 kn Net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in next loop, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 3 loops; repeat.	64 knots in round

Round 9	mesh stick: #3 kn Net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 4 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 2 loops; repeat.	80 knots in round

Round 10	mesh stick: #3 kn Net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 7 loops, net 2 knots in next loop, net 1 knot in each loop for 1 loop; repeat.	96 knots in round
